1930s Whig Rose Amber Overshot Coverlet

$498.00

This coverlet, woven in the Whig Rose pattern, is a special heirloom, possibly for someone in Virginia.
Made at Rosemont in Marion Virginia.

Historical background on Rosemont from the woman we purchased this piece from:
Rosemont was the home and corporation of Laura Lu Scherer Copenhaver (1868-1940) who sought to improve the lives of local farm families of southwestern Virginia, where Marion is located. Copenhaver organized women in her own home who produced the textiles made of local wool. Through her role as the director of information for the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, Copenhaver became involved in cooperative marketing of the local farming products in which she came to produce herself.

Measurements laid flat: 91”x107”

Shown folded on a queen size bed, could suit up to a king size bed.

C O N D I T I O N

Has significant fading along one edge, from being displayed on a bed for years. However, the fading is sort of lovely as it emulates a sort of natural gradiant and once on the bed is not terribly off putting in our opinion.
No other major flaws to note!

⋒  This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
