1860s Broken Star Quilt
This piece is best for display as it has significant wear throughout. It never the less is a beautiful rendition of an uncommon pattern. Truly stunning hand quilting and deserves to be hung on a wall for that alone. But has an overall storied wear that has a compelling look and represents the beautiful time worn art form of quilting.
From a prominent Pennsylvania collection.

How it’s made: hand pieced and hand quilted
Weight: light
Measurements laid flat: 69” x 84”
Shown on a standard Full size bed.

Discoloration throughout so that the white background has become more cream colored most likely due to previous storage methods. Exposed batting on 50% of the red piecing and fading to it as well. Fraying to some of the edge binding. Still a lovely and beautiful heritage piece.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
