1940s Courthouse Steps Quilt

$470.00
sold out

A striking modern looking quilt that would be stunning on a wall.
Based on the quilting pattern and colors used we believe this quilt to possibly be Amish. One of our favorite details is the variety of colored quilting thread used - mostly red thread with some yellows, pinks and cooler light blues as well.
There are pieces of older calico peeking through some of the tears, which may have been used to back the blocks of the quilt or could be an older quilt inside.
Nevertheless, it is in and of itself— a mood.

How it’s made: hand quilted and hand pieced

Weight: light

Measurements laid flat: 68” x 69”

Shown on a standard Full size bed.

The blue fabric on the front of this quilt is quite delicate and has separating seams in a decent handful of places. This quilt does not have batting. A handful of discoloration spots on the front and back of this piece. Best suited for display on a wall. The back fabric has wrinkles quilted into it due to quilting methods used.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
