Late 1800s Lone Star Quilt
This late 1800s Lone Star quilt is such a joyful pop of pattern and color.
The tan diamonds that make up the star in-between the yellow and red pieces were once green. A testament to the type of mordant and dye process from that era and it’s inability to stay color fast over time.
Still a very striking quilt and incredibly soft. Would be a perfect quilt for your bed!
D E T A I L S
Machine pieced and very intricately and beautifully hand quilted.
A nice light-medium weight quilt for the transition in seasons.
Measurements laid flat:
88”x87”
Shown on a standard Full size bed.
C O N D I T I O N
In lovely condition. Has some slight discoloration throughout of some slight pinkish hues which lends to the belief that it was improperly washed and the red diamonds bled a bit. It’s faint and hard to photograph. Has a little wear on some of the former green pieces and a little wear at the edges. Overall in very usable condition.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project my friends. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
