1880s Somerset Whig Rose Applique Quilt
This quilt is from a local Somerset Virginia farm, and the calico floral appliqué is truly stunning! A piece fit for Spring.
Sadly it has significant damage but could certainly be usable again with some repair or displayed as-is. Definitely still worth loving and admiring for its bright beauty.

How it’s made: machine quilted and machine appliquéd
Weight: very light
Measurements laid flat: 65” x 81”
Shown on a standard Full size bed.

A slightly wounded bird, possibly best used for display on a wall. Or put some love and care into mending this piece so it can be used on a bed. A handful of holes and tears that go all the way through and a few spots of discoloration ranging from fairly faint to darker depending on the spot. Fading to edge binding fabric.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
