1860s Eight Pointed Star Quilt
A true museum worthy piece, it is rare to find brown calicos of this age in such remarkable condition. The highlight of this summer’s collection, with a chintz edge and charming acorn calico binding, the quilting is also done with various shades of brown thread, implying that the maker was just using what they had. A sweet reminder of the importance of resourcefulness and beauty in imperfection.
This quilt is one of the hardest we’ve let go of lately. It is so hard not to keep all of our favorites, but the joy truly is found in sharing these rare and timeless textiles with you and having them bring joy to your home in turn.

A few stars have some wear and there are a few small darker spots here and there. In truly incredible and excellent condition otherwise and could be suitable for gentle use on a bed, but would shine best hung on a wall as the masterpiece that it is.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
