1910s Barn Raising Log Cabin Quilt
One of our favorite quilts from this latest collection and one that surely almost stayed with us due to its absolute charm…
A slightly smaller size that allows for more versatility in the way of the required wall space for hanging. And while this quilt would be perfectly usable on a bed, the barn raising pattern just begs to be hung for all to see!
Comprised of 80 blocks, 8×8 inches, set straight, 8 by 10.
There is no batting, so this quilt is a a great lighter weight. The top was pieced together and then finished into a quilt at a later date, with the backing fabric dating sometime in the 20th century, and the binding from sometime in the 21st. The red and white dot fabric was also used to conserve some of the older center square fabrics, and another fabric was used to conserve some logs.
Nevertheless, the calicos in this one are captivating and ones we have not seen before.(the little pinned fly one is our favorite…)
One of the most asked after pieces this month, it will be a crown jewel in your collection.

How it’s made: Hand pieced and hand quilted
Weight: Light
Measurements laid flat: 63” × 78”

No real flaws to note! It is in very good condition with some wonderful 19th century prints including some novelty shirtings.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
