1900s Coxcomb & Currants Quilt

$880.00

This beautiful appliqué quilt is made up of 16 blocks of the Coxcomb & Currants pattern, with a 1.5” pieced half square triangle sashing and 4” pieced half square triangle border (our personal favorite touch).
There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied off white fabric binding, by machine. Workmanship is very primitive and gives the quilt a folk art aesthetic.

It is in lovely condition for its age and very usable, though it does have several discolorations, and a few tears in some of the piecework fabrics. We also believe that the currants may have originally been red and other elements may have originally been green, but has faded to tan because of fugitive dyes.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.

⋒ This find will ship to you within one week of purchasing. International and combined shipping is available, please contact us via instagram DM at @Folkling for a personalized shipping quote.
