1890s Signed Rambling Road Quilt

$598.00
sold out

One from our personal collection — This quilt block is known by a variety of names including but not limited to: Irish Puzzle, Indian Trail, Climbing Rose, Flying Dutchman, North Wind, Weather Vane, Tangled Tares, Kansas Troubles, Old Maid’s Ramble, Winding Walk and Storm At Sea.

I am sure you’re not surprised as to which our favorite of the list ended up being. You can choose your favorite too if you make it yours.

This quilt is a very special one, not only because it’s signed and dated, but because of the ever covetable blue and black calico combination that is hard to come across due to black calicos often not withstanding the test of time due to the dye that was used on many of them during this era.
A real stunner despite it’s slight wear and suitable for a bed or a wall.

How it’s made: Hand pieced and hand quilted

Weight: light

Measurements laid flat :79” x 70”

Shown on a standard Full size bed.

No holes or tears that go all the way through. A decent amount of piecing where batting is exposed in some small places and wear to the fabric. Prevalent yellowing, and dye bleed from the black calico throughout the back as well on the white on the front. Some fraying to edge binding.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project my friends. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.

⋒ This find will ship to you within one week of purchasing. International and combined shipping is available, please contact us via instagram DM at @Folkling for a personalized shipping quote.
