1890s A Brave Sunflower Quilt
This quilt pattern has many other names, including Kansas Sunflower, Rising Sun, Noonday, Sunburst and Russian Sunflower (to name a few).
A few different mulberry calicos make up the body of this quilt, including the beautiful whole-cloth backing.
This piece will surely bring warmth and charm to a room. Display on a wall, use on your bed or even as a curtain.
D E T A I L S
How it’s made: hand quilted and hand pieced
Weight: light
Measurements laid flat: 72” x 74”
Shown on a standard Full size bed.
C O N D I T I O N
A slightly wounded bird but still useable. The worst wear is around the edges and a new edge binding would fix up this quilt immensely.
Mend for yourself or use as a display piece on your wall. Edge binding missing from two sides of the quilt. Exposed batting on the front and slight fading throughout to the mulberry red calico background.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
