1890s Jacob's Ladder Quilt

$675.00
sold out

This 1890s Jacob’s Ladder quilt is incredibly soft. Perfect for bundling up with a good novel and sipping hot tea alone, or getting cozy with someone you love. A truly visually captivating piece and one we almost kept for our own collection (indeed it has been in the inventory for about a year so we weren’t eager to let this one go…)
We are in awe of the intricate quilting as well.

This quilt pattern dates back to before the Revolutionary War and goes by a few other names such as Underground Railroad, Road to California, Off to San Francisco, Gone to Chicago, Stepping Stones and Trail of the Covered Wagon.

How it’s made: hand pieced and hand quilted

Weight: medium

Measurements laid flat: 67” x 68”

We can only imagine how vibrant this quilt would have been when it was originally made. The red has since faded but does not detract from the beauty of this piece as it is a lovely overall even fade. One spot where a previous owner mended a hole. Some wear and fraying to some of the piecing and edges. Slight, almost imperceivable yellowing to the white in some places.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project my friends. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
