1890s Cheddar Basket Quilt
This quilt is a beauty for any collection with its vibrant cheddar and turkey red pieced front and the extra special killer feedsack backing (“Spreckles fine granulated sugar” !).
A very soft and usable quilt if you’d rather it be on a bed, but would certainly look amazing hung.

How it’s made: hand quilted, hand and machine pieced
Weight: light medium
Measurements laid flat: 65” x 77.5”
Shown on a standard Full size bed.
If you’d like to hang your quilt, we recommend our locally made Folkling Quilt Clips!

A few faint discolorations and brown spots on front, plus scattered loose threads. Binding was added at some point later in its life, and newer piecework overlays the original piecework on a handful of blocks in a presumed attempt at restoration. Feedsack backing has more general discolorations plus more recently added tube of fabric for hanging.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
