1880s Whole Cloth Blue Calico Quilt

$858.00

It’s not often we come across a whole cloth quilt as beautiful and intact as this one.
We’ve had a few cross our paths and they are often in tatters, or covering the remains of heavily used quilts. This one however, seems hardly used and is the sole original quilt, with thin cotton batting in-between the two calicos, not other quilts as the batting— as we typically see of whole-cloth quilts.

With lovely elbow fan quilting, and original patches and mends that are likely the most charming and charming part of this quilt. This gradient of calm would be lovely on a bed, or hung on a wall. True collectors piece.

How it’s made: hand quilted, hand pieced

Weight: light

Measurements laid flat: 60” x 80”

Shown on a standard Full size bed.
If you’d like to hang your quilt, we recommend our locally made Folkling Quilt Clips!

General fading and mends throughout, one hole through blue and batting layers, and larger brown discolorations on the black, black calico side.
Very sturdy and usable and gorgeous otherwise!

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.

⋒ This find will ship to you within one week of purchasing. International and combined shipping is available, please contact us via instagram DM at @Folkling for a personalized shipping quote.
