1880s Tulip Appliqué Quilt

$420.00
sold out

The walnut and cheddar diamond sashes that surround the tulips blocks of this quilt are our favorite element of this fun quilt.
The original quilt top was likely quilted in a much later decade as the back of this quilt is much newer than the appliqué top. However the wear it has is not necessarily indicative of the later time period it seems to have been quilted in so its a bit of a mystery to us. Nevertheless, this quilt is beautiful and useable in its current condition.

How it’s made: machine pieced, hand quilted and hand appliquéd

Weight: light

Measurements laid flat: 63” x 81”

Shown on a standard Full size bed.

This piece and its condition is quite a mystery to us. The quilt top, due to vegetable dyeing processes, has wear to most of the piece work. The back of the quilt and the quilting itself is newer and not original to the quilt. Exposed batting throughout on the front but no holes or tears that go all the way through. Features a curtain rod sleeve for easy hanging but can be removed if so desired.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
