1880s Neutral Square & Points Quilt
The lone blue gingham block on this quilt is our favorite. Many may deem this beauty a cutter, but it is a special one that deserves to be kept in-tact. Would look lovely displayed on a wall in a hallway for a neutral textural balance in your home.
Despite its charming simplicity, the eight pointed star quilt block is one of the more difficult to make. Dating back to the early 1800s, this pattern is made up of eight points per star, with each of the outside angles measuring to a precise 45 degrees.
A great deal of time is executed in piecing these blocks together.
D E T A I L S
How it’s made: hand pieced and hand quilted
Weight: light
Measurements laid flat: 76” x 86”
Shown on a standard Full size bed.
C O N D I T I O N
This piece is display condition only and we would strongly advise against using it on a bed. Missing piecing and exposed batting throughout, as well as a few darker small spots of discoloration. A few small holes that go all the way through.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
