1880s Hexagon & Star Cheater Quilt
Cheater quilts are a really fun research rabbit hole to go down, if you feel so inclined! This 1880s Simulated Patchwork Print was made by Cocheco Mills, NH. It is comprised of 3+ widths of fabric each about 23.5” wide, and hand pieced. The print is made to look like quilt blocks with stars and embroidered hexagons. There is no batting, and an off white cotton reverse. It would make for a lovely summer quilt due to its lightness.
The edge is finished with the front brought to the back and applied by hand on 3 sides, and knife edge along 1 side, by hand.
Would also work beautifully as a curtain or room divider, due to its lightness.

Larger water marks throughout that are partly hidden by the print, with some smaller brown discoloration spots visible on the back.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
