1880s Triple Irish Chain Quilt
This one is a real stunner. iconic late 1800s acid green calico (a personal favorite of ours) makes up the majority of this quilt, though the whole cloth blue calico backing might be our favorite part.
The patchwork is also made up of a sweet Ivory printed calico as well as vegetable dyed cotton that was once green but has since faded into a sand color which is to be expected for its age.
We toyed with the idea of displaying this quilt in reverse because… well. You’ll just have to see this blue calico to see for yourself…
D E T A I L S
How it’s made: hand quilted and machine pieced
Weight: light
Measurements laid flat: 73” x 73.5”
Shown on a standard Full size bed.
C O N D I T I O N
One dark spot of discoloration on the front and another lighter spot on the back. Very slight fraying on one bound edge.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project my friends. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
