1860s Calico Nine Patch Quilt

$850.00
sold out

The crown jewel of this collection (or so we think…), there are some really special and beautiful calicos that we have never seen before in this quilt. Some predating 1830. Incredible floral quilting in between blocks and cotton seed batting with pristine original binding.
One of our favorite details? The four different types of blue calico that make up one of the borders. A lovely testament to making do and using what you have.
We ooh-ed and aah-ed over this quilt for ages! Definitely a hard one to let go of…

How it’s made: hand quilted and hand pieced

Weight: light summer weight

Measurements laid flat: 87” x 88”

Shown on a standard Full size bed.

C O N D I T I O N
Excellent condition save for how some of the brown calicos have bled from front to back due to improper washing and how fabrics were dyed during this time period. One or two very tiny tears in the patchwork due to the age of the fabric. The back has darker stains that do not show through the front.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.

⋒ This find will ship to you within one week of purchasing. International and combined shipping is available, please contact us via instagram DM at @Folkling for a personalized shipping quote.
