1860s Whig Rose Appliqué Quilt

$998.00
sold out

Also known as the Democrat Rose pattern, this stunning and nearly pristine and museum worthy quilt was made sometime in the 1860s-1880s.
A really remarkable representation of this pattern, the woman we bought it from in Richmond had a really special collection she entrusted us with and told us she’d purchased it in Texas in the 1990s. It’s time for a new owner though and this one would be especially spectacular on a larger bed (it’s huge, check out those measurements below!) or displayed on a wall. The vine border especially has our hearts!
As well as those cheddar details…

Floral appliqué quilts are some of our favorite and this one is no exception and certainly a hard one for us to let go of!

How it’s made: Hand quilted, hand pieced, hand appliqued

Weight: medium

Measurements laid flat: 94” x 94”

Shown on a standard Full size bed.
If you’d like to hang your quilt, we recommend our locally made Folkling Quilt Clips!

In great condition - some fabric loss only to the light pink cotton fabrics, a few small holes in the red and green fabrics, slight fading to some of the green appliqué, a few small brown discolorations on the front and back, and general yellowing along the edges and fold lines from storage. In otherwise impeccable condition!

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.

⋒ This find will ship to you within one week of purchasing. International and combined shipping is available, please contact us via instagram DM at @Folkling for a personalized shipping quote.
