Folkling Field Trip | Memery Farm

— Folkling Field Trip is a series of storied places brought to you by our adventures out on The Road —

One of the things we have loved most about having the Folkling brick and mortar in Gordonsville is the community we’ve discovered since being here.
From the locals-turned-regulars that come say hi every weekend, to the fellow shop owners who are always supporting and cheering us on in one form or another. It’s a small town so you can’t walk to the post office without seeing someone you know, but that’s one of our favorite things about it.

One of our favorite people in the community is our friend Lauren.
Lauren is a part of the market that’s opening up across the street from our shop,  Jackson & Company (we could not be more excited for this market by the way… Sandy Motley’s food is the best of the best…). For several weeks in a row, at the end of the summer, Lauren would come by the shop and bring us these gorgeous flowers (as seen here and here). Cosmos and zinnias and other beautiful blooming things we didn’t even know the names of (a neighbor who just casually brings you flowers every weekend? Yep. That’s just the kind of person Lauren is).
She told us they were from a farm down the road. A sweet little farm in Barboursville called — Memery Farm .

After an introduction from Lauren, Will and Kira invited us to come by for a visit and we ended up photographing a vintage collection there (you can see a few of the pieces from that shoot here and here). In the process we learned more about their amazing hydroponics green house and the impromptu flower field that they started this year and (good news) will be continuing next year!
They shared some of their mixed lettuces and micro greens with us (which were, no exaggeration, some of the best we’ve had) and we have since signed up for their weekly farm delivery (they deliver to Downtown Charlottesville, Gordonsville and Barboursville!) which you can learn more about here.

It was a beautiful place, to say the least, and we could not have enjoyed our visit more. We even brought back some flower bundles to dry in the shop and send out with this months orders. So if you get a little dried flower with your package in the next month or so… this dreamy place is where it came from!

You can pick up fresh greens at Memery Farm every Wednesday and Friday 8-5
or if you are in the Barboursville, Gordonsville or Downtown Charlottesville area—schedule a delivery.
